Fruit drinks are mostly alkalizing or near-neutral. But remember, PRAL calculations are best applied to real food and drinks. Unfortunately, many bottled fruit drinks are highly processed factory foods. So they should be avoided. Otherwise, they can distort PRAL alkalinity estimates.

Also, there are nutrition risks with manufactured fruit drinks beyond alkaline diet. So discuss the type of drinks that suit you best with your doctor, dietitian, or other qualified health professional.

Before you use this PRAL Fruit Drinks List, you must understand and agree to PRAL Food Lists Principles

Acid-Alkaline Fruit Drinks List

I list fruit drinks with the lowest PRAL index first. Because these have the highest alkaline load. So the most alkalizing drinks show first. But you can click the food table headings to change sort order.

For the fruit drink category, the average PRAL values are -1.16 per 100 grams and -4.38 per 100 calories. To put this in context, compare with other nonalcoholic beverages in the Food Category List.

Your Alkaline Fruit Drinks

Remember, factors such as growing conditions, variety, and preparation methods affect all food nutrients. USDA database values are an average of many samples. So your PRAL values for fruit drinks will vary from day to day. But they are always an estimate of actual acid load on your kidneys. Which I explain more in the notes about PRAL principles on the category list page.

For 2022 and beyond, I’m introducing new lists to match the way that USDA database foods relate to Dietary Guidelines. So please see Fruits and Fruit Juices. Then use the feedback links at the end of that page to let me know your thoughts on those new food lists.
