Sugars are alkalizing. Especially in the case of molasses. However, most health professionals advise against adding too much extra sugar in your diet. So you should ask your doctor for advice about your optimum target for total daily sugar intake.

Be aware that sugars are alkalizing due to very low or zero protein. Because this has a significant impact on PRAL alkalinity calculation. Again, especially for molasses which has very high levels of calcium, magnesium, and potassium.

Before you use this PRAL Sugars and Honey List, you must understand and agree to PRAL Food Lists Principles

Acid-Alkaline Sugars and Honey List

I list sugars with the lowest PRAL index first. Because these have the highest alkaline load. So the most alkalizing sweeteners show first. But you can click the food table headings to change sort order.

Your Alkaline Sugars and Honey

Remember, factors such as growing conditions, variety, and preparation methods affect all food nutrients. USDA database values are an average of many samples. So your PRAL values for sugars will vary from day to day. But they are always an estimate of actual acid load on your kidneys. Which I explain more in the notes about PRAL principles on the category list page.
