Mediterranean Eating Patterns

Mediterranean Dietary Pattern 2000 Calories

Mediterranean Dietary Pattern 2000 Calories is a list of recommended daily and weekly calorie intake for people who have chosen a 2,000 calorie Mediterranean Eating Pattern from the Dietary Guidelines for Americans. So if you haven’t yet seen it, please read Dietary Pattern Food Group Index before you consult the list below. Because that index page explains:

  1. Two other eating styles: US-Style and Vegetarian.
  2. Different calorie intakes.
  3. The purpose of this series of food group lists.
  4. Three activity levels that affect calorie requirements.
  5. Equivalent cup and equivalent ounce measures (‘eq’ in the list below).
  6. Daily vs weekly intake.

Dietary Guidelines Food Groups Audience

The guidelines used for this dietary pattern include recommended calorie intake based on gender and activity level. As I described in the index to this series.

So, the guidelines recommend 2,000 calories per day for:

  • Sedentary females aged from 19 to 25 years.
  • Moderately active females aged from 12 to 18 years.
  • Active females aged 10 or 11 years.
  • Sedentary males aged 61 years or more.
  • Moderately active males aged 11 years.
  • Active males aged 8 or 9 years.

However, your doctor, dietitian, or other professional health adviser might recommend 2,000 calories per day for some people outside these ranges. For example, where you are advised to lose weight. So you should always consult your doctor prior to changing your eating or activity patterns.
